How to Make Beetroot Puttu (Traditional Method):

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Beetroot Puttu Podi

  • Water (as needed)

  • Salt to taste

  • Grated coconut (for layering)


Instructions:

  1. Moisten the Flour:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup Beetroot Puttu Podi and a pinch of salt. Gradually sprinkle water while mixing until the texture becomes crumbly and moist.

  2. Rest the Mixture:
    Let it rest for 5–10 minutes for even hydration. When pressed, the flour should hold shape briefly and fall apart easily.

  3. Steam with Coconut Layers:
    In your puttu maker, alternate layers of grated coconut and beetroot puttu flour until full.

  4. Steam Until Done:
    Steam for 5–7 minutes, until aromatic and fluffy.
