It’s an excellent option for those seeking a diabetic-friendly, low-GI breakfast, or simply looking to make their morning meals more nutritious without compromising on flavor.

How to Make Wheat Puttu (Traditional Method):

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Wheat Puttu Podi

  • Water as needed

  • Salt to taste

  • Grated coconut (for layering)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Flour:
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup Wheat Puttu Podi with a pinch of salt. Sprinkle warm water little by little and mix thoroughly with fingers until the flour is evenly moistened and crumbly.

  2. Rest & Ready:
Let it sit for 5 minutes. Test by pressing a bit in your palm—it should hold its shape briefly and then fall apart.

  3. Layer in Puttu Maker:
Add a spoonful of grated coconut to the bottom of the puttu cylinder, then layer the moistened wheat flour. Alternate layers of flour and coconut till full.

  4. Steam to Perfection:
Steam for 6–8 minutes until you see steam escaping and the puttu is fully cooked.

  5. Serve Hot:
Delicious with kadala curry, ghee and banana, coconut milk, or moong dal curry.
